Terrazzo has made a tremendous come back due to the demand for easy to maintain solid surface flooring. Architects and designers love this impressive flooring because of its timeless beauty and design flexibility as it can be created into anything imaginable.

Terrazzo is a composite material that is poured in place or precast. Typically it consists of marble, quartz, granite and glass chips and poured with a cement binder. It is then cured, ground and polished to a smooth surface.

It is arguably the most durable product available today, perfect for high traffic public buildings, airports, homes, schools, medical and convention centers. In fact, stair treads made of terrazzo have been known to outlast a building while providing an outstanding look.

In terms of green technology, there are no surfaces that compare with terrazzo as it can be polished to a high-shine without using any chemicals. For this reason, terrazzo is very environmentally friendly.

No two terrazzo floors are alike. Refinishing terrazzo floors is a long-term and inexpensive alternative to installing carpet, ceramic tile, vinyl or wood which can stain and retain odor. In addition refinished terrazzo is pet-friendly as well as stain and scratch resistant.

The durability and low maintenance of a terrazzo floor ensures use and enjoyment for years to come. Few other types of flooring can boast of the advantages of a terrazzo floor. They are a great choice for both home and commercial applications.
